Hyderabad: Telangana state government had finally decided to sanction 4,000 new posts in departments like Panchayat Raj, Education, Medical and Health, Police and Revenue to provide better administration in the new districts and mandals that would come into existence from October 11.

A high-level meeting was held by the Additional Chief Secretary in Chief Minister Office (CMO) Shanthi Kumari on Wednesday.

It was decided that nearly 1,200 posts will have to be filled in Police department, 1,000 each in Revenue and Panchayat Raj and 800 in Education, Medical and Health departments.

Nearly 70 per cent of the posts would be filled through fresh recruitment and the remaining by giving promotions, a source said.

The Hans India had carried a news item, ‘No staff to run new districts” in its Monday edition (September 26).

Police and Revenue departments have been asked to submit the seniority list of the officials based on which promotions would be given. The promoted persons would be deputed in the newly-constituted mandals and revenue divisions in the new districts.

In the Panchayat Raj department, nodal officers would be appointed until Mandal Parishad Development Officers’ (MPDOs) posts are filled in the newly-created mandals.

Mandal Education Officers (MEOs) in the education department and Health officers in the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in mandal headquarters and District Medical Health Officers (DMHOs) at district level would be appointed by deputing the officials from the head offices of the respective departments.

A special recruitment drive would be taken up to fill all theses posts in six months’ time, the source added.
The official said that the government would also consider the demand to sanction new posts in Planning, Agriculture and all welfare departments for the effective administration.

However, it would consume more time to fill the new posts as it required the consent of the Finance department.
