Hyderabad: Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Arvind Kumar on Monday said the traditional art forms of the State should be showcased at the annual India International Trade Fair (IITF-2016) in Delhi.

The State government will put a Telangana pavilion at the fair which will be inaugurated by the Tourism Minister Ajmeera Chandulal on November 14. The Minister for Industries, IT and Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao will inaugurate the Telangana State Day celebrations on November 21.

Arvind Kumar held a meeting with the officials of Industries, Handicrafts, Handlooms, Tourism and Culture here on Monday and reviewed the arrangements being made for the State’s participation in IITF. He asked the officials to make elaborate arrangements to facilitate the public and private sector units to showcase their products during the fair.

He said the traditional art forms of the State like the Cheriyal scroll paintings, Pembarti sheet metal, Nirmal paintings, Dokra metal crafts, durries and carpets should be exhibited. He said the artisans should be brought and live demonstration of their art forms should be performed.

Weavers from Gadwal, Pochampally and Narayanpet should also be asked to display their workmanship at the fair, he instructed the officials. He asked the officials to list out the names of artisans, weavers and other participants by October 10.

The cultural programmes should include tribal dance forms of Kommu Koya, Guddasi and Qawwali. Hyderabadi Biryani and other delicacies should be served at the Telangana food stalls, he directed.

Industries Commissioner Manick Raj, Managing Director of Telangana Tourism Development Corporation Dr Christina Z Chongthu, Director, Digital Media, IT & EC department Kontham Dileep, Director, Cultural Affairs, M Harikrishna and other officials attended the meeting.
