Hyderabad: The Balala Hakkula Sangham on Saturday demanded that the police conduct a thorough inquiry into the issue of a 13-year-old student, Aradhana, who died due to ritualistic fasting for 68 days. It wants the police to take action on the guilty.

At a press conference held at their office, Balala Hakkula Sangham president Anuradha Rao said that they have ensured booking a case with the police. This incident should be considered as a murder of a child in the name of religion, she said.

Aaradhana, a 13-year-old student studying in St Francis School was forced by her parents to go on fast for 68 days. Father of the girl, Laxmi Chand Manish Samdari is a gold trader in Secunderabad.
