Vikarabad: Fifty houses in Rajiv Gruhakalpa Colony under Tandur town limits were locked on Monday by the officials of Andhra Bank for non-payment of loan instalments which were pending for last several months. According to the bank officials, the bank issued notices to the occupants.

As there was no response to the notices, the bank had taken the step of locking the houses. However, the occupants asserted that that there was no information from the bank that “they were going to lock the houses” and expressed their anger as the bank officials, “without any prior notice” came to lock the houses.

The affected were getting ready to meet Minister Mahender Reddy to explain their difficulties and seek possible justice.

The houses for the poor were constructed during the Chief Ministership of YS Rajasekhar Reddy a few years ago, on a condition that they need to clear the loan amount to the bank in instalments.
