Hyderabad: Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya inaugurated the ‘Yoga Week’ at ESIC Medical College here on Wednesday.

Dattatreya spoke about the significance of incorporating the science of yoga into everyday life and said that a sound mind leads to a sound body.

Secretary VGKK and Karuna Trust Dr Hanumappa Sudarshan, who is a social worker and tribal rights activist, gave an inspiring talk on ‘Reaching the Health Care to Unreached’.

Dr Ramesh Bijlani, retired Professor of Physiology at AIIMS, New Delhi, spoke on how a doctor can attain the sense of fulfillment and inner peace by making the right choices.

Maharshi Dr Yogiraj and Guruma Sneha spoke about the integration of Yoga into medicine as a therapeutic tool. He announced that a research project on cancer patients would be undertaken at ESIC Hospital soon.

Dean of the ESIC Medical College Dr M Srinivas, speaking on the occasion, stated that during this one week programme, seminars on ‘Integrating Yoga into Modern Medicine, Mind – Body Medicine, Stress Management’ along with practical sessions on Yogasanas and Pranayama would be conducted for medical and paramedical personnel.

He informed that a public talk on ‘Yesterday’s Wisdom for a Healthy Tomorrow’ will be organised on October 22. First year medical students, faculty, paramedical and other staff of the ESIC Medical College and Hospital also participated.
