Hyderabad: Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday said Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were hit hard by the recent Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict that undermined the interests of the two Telugu states. Talking to media, the minister said the Bachawat Tribunal allocation of Krishna River waters was made on the basis of 75% dependability and United AP (Telangana+AP) got 811 TMC assured waters.

Brijesh Kumar Tribunal allocated waters on the basis of 65% dependability, according to which, united AP got 1,001 TMC assured waters that is 190 TMC more. But, Karnataka and Maharashtra also were allocated 254 TMC more assured waters. At present, only 250 TMC of water is coming from above to Telangana and AP.

Because of this, extra 254 TMC assured water allocation to Maharashtra and Karnataka, both Telangana and AP will not get the extra 190 TMC at all, he said. Stating that injustice was done to the two Telugu states, Dattatreya asked the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal to remove the 65% dependability allocation and make it as 75% dependability like before. Both Telangana and AP should be allocated waters based on their catchment area proportion and both the states should fight it out in the Supreme Court, he said.
