Hyderabad: Claiming that the TRS government was for farmers’ welfare, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Monday said that the government will soon launch the works related to Dindi project in Nalgonda district to address the decade-long fluoride problem. Tenders for this project were called and works will be taken up, he said.

“Being a farmer’s son himself, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar is aware of agricultural problems and is launching many schemes for their welfare,” Harish said. The government will spend Rs 1,000 crore for constructing godowns in all mandals in the State, he said.

Harish Rao lashed out at the Opposition for making baseless allegations on projects and farmers problems. The previous Congress government had failed to construct projects and ignored the farmer’s plight, he said. During the previous regime, Uttam Kumar Reddy who built Pulichintala project for Andhra region is now creating hurdles to Telangana projects, fumed Harish.

He further said, “The Congress leaders have no moral right to talk on farmers’ woes and projects. Lakes restoration programme gave positive results and most of the water bodies and ponds are filled to capacity giving hope to farmers to get work in their villages.”

The Opposition was getting envious on the projects and moving High Court against them, he objected. Though people were happy with the welfare schemes, the Congress party was trying to misguide them for political mileage, he charged.
