Hyderabad: Speculations are rife that the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee is in for a major overhaul most probably by February.

According to party sources, the Congress high command has reportedly taken a decision to reshuffle the entire Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and this could include changing the State party President.

The Congress high command is said to be unhappy with the state unit which has not been able to recover its lost ground even two and half years after the drubbing it suffered in the elections. It is understood to have asked the party- in- charges to submit a report on the activities of the State unit.

Based on the reports submitted to the AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi, the party high command has come to a conclusion that a major overhaul of the party was necessary and it needs leaders who can go aggressive against the ruling TRS government.

More over it feels that it also needs leaders who can mobilise funds for the party for the next elections, a senior most Congress leader told The Hans India.

The party in-charges are also said to have recommended names of the senior leaders from Reddy, Minority, BC and Dalit communities who could be taken into the new body. Rahul Gandhi who had held few meetings with state party leaders is likely to meet them again soon before initiating the process of the revamping.

Sources said the high command had come out with a proposal that the services of all district party presidents and state committee members should be utilised for party work and they should be kept away from contesting the elections.

Meanwhile, party senior leader Komatireddy Venkatreddy and his younger brother Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy have decided to take up padayatras in all 31 districts from February to assess the ground level situation and to regain at least some of the lost ground.
