Guntur: Telangana State Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy said that historical Kondaveedu Fort will turn into a major tourist centre in AP as it is situated near capital Amaravati.

He reminded that in the combined State, former Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy and former MP Modugula Venugopala Reddy secured necessary permissions to develop the fort with the support of the Central government.

Naini visited the Kondaveedu Fort on Sunday and examined the ghat road works at the fort. MLA Modugula Venugopala Reddy and Kondaveedu Fort Development Committee convenor K Siva Redy explained the history of the fort to the TS Home Minister.

They explained steps being taken by the AP government to develop the fort as a world-class tourist centre to attract more tourists. They said Minister for Agriculture Prathipati Pulla Rao is regularly conducting meetings to review progress of the Kondaveedu Fort development works.

Narasimha Reddy was thrilled on knowing about the fort’s rich history. Replying to queries by newsmen, Naini said issues related to Krishna river water distribution should be resolved amicably by AP and TS. On the ban imposed on old Rs 500, Rs 1,000 notes, he said the common people were facing some problems.
