In a major boost to the sport at the varsity level, Shiva Kumar lifted three silver medals in snatch, jerk and total-in in the 56-kg category of the World University Weightlifting Championships in the Mexican town of Merida on Tuesday.
According to information received here, the gifted lifter had won gold in the 2015-16 All India Inter-university Weightlifting Championships that was hosted at ANU Guntur.
Incidentally, his mentor is his father Venugopal, who is a veteran weightlifter.
