Warangal: Extending solidarity to the people troubled by the BJP-led NDA regime’s demonetisation of currency, the Congress leaders and cadres would express their anger with ‘Akrosh Diwas’ on November 28 across the State.
Speaking to press persons here on Friday, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said as part of the call given the AICC, protests would be held at all Assembly segments and district headquarters. Black flags would be displayed and effigies would be burnt.
He appealed to the people to join the protests and express their displeasure over the Centre’s move. BJP government’s ‘impromptu’ demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes had made the poorer and marginalised sections to face lot of problems.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lack of experience and mindless act had disturbed the economy and claimed several lives, Uttam Kumar Reddy said, adding that 99 percent of the society comprising farmers, small traders, middle class and common public were forced to face inconvenience.
“Anyone with proper mind would first make alternate arrangements before going ahead with such a move,” he said. Several economists and former PM Manmohan Singh had opined that the demonetisation could trigger serious financial crisis and set the booming Indian economy on backtrack, he added.
The PM who promised to bring back black money hoarded in foreign banks and credit Rs 15 lakh into the accounts of public within 100 days of time had failed to do so. The drama of demonetisation was meant to cover it up, Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged.
He and former TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah wanted to know why Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was silent on the issue, though it had caused a dent on the State exchequer.
Lakshmaiah, hitting at the Chief Minister, said his rule had failed to ensure any development in the State even after 30 months. Both the State and Centre failed to deliver promises made during the State bifurcation as per the AP State Reorganisation Act for the benefit of Telangana, he said.
The biggest achievement of the Chief Minister was throwing the cash-surplus State into debt trap. Acting like a monarch, Chandrashekar Rao was misusing public money for building vastu compliant office-cum-residence, he added.
Party MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said the Prime Minister was falsely claiming that the majority of the country had backed his decision, but the fact was RSS activists were engaged in clicking ‘likes’ on social media.
