Kothagudem: Devotees of Lord Sri Rama, who visit Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam, are a disappointed lot as there is no proper Bhajan Mandir for them to conduct bhajans, which is said to be dearer to Lord Rama.
The temple, built by Ramadas in 16th century, was also credited to Tumu Narasimha Das, Pokala Dammakka and Bhadra Maharshi for the development of the temple which is said to be Vaikuntham, the place of no hindrance, for the devotees.
All the rituals of worshipping would be conducted here on the lines of Ranganadha temple at Srirangam.
For the last many centuries, the Durbar Seva programme is also being conducted as Sri Rama was the emperor which was attended by Haridasas of the Devastanam who praise the Lord with Kirtanas.
Bhakta Ramadas had introduced the bhajan tradition, rendition of devotional songs in praise of Lord Rama, in the temple and it had become a huge success during his life time and after too.
However, there is no proper Bhajan Mandir on the temple premises to continue the tradition. Several devotees from time to time had appealed to the successive Devastanam Board members for the construction of the Bhajan Mandir. However, no action had been initiated so far.
Several thousands of devotees, who throng the temple from two Telugu states as well as from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, feel disappointed as there is no Bhajan Mandir to stay overnight and conduct bhajans throughout the worshipping time.
The temple officials more often than not suggest to the devotees to organise bhajans at Chitrakuta Mandapam or near Anjaneya Swamy temple. But many a time, these two places are occupied by the temple staff for preparing prasadam or used for counting donations or for conducting yagams.
Several devotees were upset when the temple officials informed them to conduct bhajans at the dormitory under the gallery in the stadium which is not a good place to conduct bhajans.
Temple Executive Officer T Ramesh Babu told The Hans India that it was a fact that there was no proper Bhajan Mandir on the temple premises.
He said that the proposal for construction of Bhajan Mandir would be forwarded to the state government as part of its plan for developing the temple at a cost of Rs 100 crore.
“We are looking for a suitable place for constructing Bhajan Mandir,” he added. Temple Sthanacharyulu KE Sthalasai said that bhajan is crucial in the worshipping of Sri Rama and there should be a Bhajan Mandir.
However, it is not possible to construct the mandir near the temple and a suitable place should be found, he added.
BJP leader Avula Subba Rao also demanded construction of Bhajan Mandir. It is high time that the government took initiative to construct the Bhajan Mandir keeping in view the sentiments of the devotees.
