Mahbubnagar: Ronald Rose, District Collector, Mahbubnagar has assured that the displaced families under Sangambanda reservoir in Makthal mandal will get relief and rehabilitation and all their problems will be solved soon.

Speaking at a review meeting at Sangambanda reservoir in Makthal with the senior irrigation officials from Hyderabad, the District Collector asked the officials to make appropriate changes in the design of irrigation projects so that it affects less people with less number of villages submerged and at the same time see that the reservoirs store adequate amount of water to meet the irrigation requirements of the farmers.

The Collector along with local MLA Rajender Reddy took stock of the reservoir works at Sangambanda irrigation project and Jayamma Cheruvu (lake) in Narayanpeta mandal on Wednesday and reviewed the relief and rehabilitation and also focused on the various problems faced by the displaced villagers.

“After the construction of Sangambanda reservoir, we could store more than 2.5 TMC of water for the first time and successfully released water to the farmers under the Kharif season.

We are also constantly interacting with the irrigation officials to design an action plan to see that the end stage crops as well as the requirements of coming Rabi season will also be met adequately with this water.

Not only this, our focus is more on the displaced villagers and affected people by this project.

We are taking all steps to ensure that all kinds of relief and rehabilitation and all issues impacting the displaced villagers will be solved as early as possible,” informed the Collector while talking stock of the reservoir works at Sangambanda project.

Later, the Collector also visited the Jayamma Cheruvu in Narayanpeta and directed the irrigation officials to prepare design of the lake in such a way that it affects less number of habitations and at the same time can store maximum water.

“We have asked the concerned irrigation officials to make appropriate design changes and also suggest new ideas to mitigate the problems and get maximum benefits to the people,” said the Collector.
