Hyderabad: In a major reshuffle, Telangana police department on Monday transferred as many as 50 Deputy Superintendents of Police. Director General of Police Anurag Sharma issued the transfer orders following the recommendations of the Police Establishment Board.

The orders show that priority was given to the newly-created police sub-divisions and existing vacancies. Sub-divisional police officers were posted to as many as 17 newly-created police sub-divisions, while seven existing vacancies were filled up as part of the reshuffle. The remaining transfers were made due to administrative reasons.

It may be recalled the new police sub-divisions came up after the Telangana government reorganised the districts and carved out 21 new districts from the existing 10, taking the number of districts to 31. The newly-created police sub-divisions were waiting for SDPOs since their creation.

Consequently, the Police Establishment Board handed over its recommendations to the DGP following which the State police chief issued the orders. In his orders, the DGP directed all unit officers to relieve the transferred officers working in their units with instructions to report in their new place of posting immediately and report compliance.
