Parliament security went into a tizzy here on Wednesday over a breach in protocol when former Mayor of Hyderabad Banda Karthika Reddy found her way to Rahul Gandhi and stood by his side for a few minutes.
New Delhi: Parliament security went into a tizzy here on Wednesday over a breach in protocol when former Mayor of Hyderabad Banda Karthika Reddy found her way to Rahul Gandhi and stood by his side for a few minutes.
The former Mayor, who secured a visitor's pass reportedly at the recommendation of a Congress MP to Parliament, entered the no-go zone in the first floor where SPG protectee and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi was scheduled to address a press conference.
The moment she saw Rahul Gandhi, Karthika greeted him and then walked along with him to the press conference hall (Room No 53) and was found by his side along with TMC leader Mukul Roy and others.
Taken aback at this, the security personnel rushed to question her and on being told that she had a visitor’s pass they read out the guidelines to her and turned her away.
However, an internal enquiry has been ordered into the matter as visitor’s pass strictly prohibits movement of the pass holder outside the designated area.
