Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based High Court advocate SK Mastan Vali has filed a complaint with the AP State Human Rights Commission (HRC) bringing to its notice the plight of the Adivasis of remote villages in Utnoor mandal who have been afflicted by a mysterious disease.

The complaint filed with the HRC cited the report titled ‘Mystery disease playing havoc with tribals’, published in The Hans India on Thursday.

The news story highlighted the plight of Adivasis battling the mysterious disease, which has been crippling victims by rendering them unfit to even walk.

The newspaper report also stated that the Adivasis were not being treated properly in the local government hospital.

The complaint stated that the Adivasis, being extremely poor, are unable to spend money for treatment of the disease.

The advocate appealed to the HRC to take up the issue suo motu and intervene by giving directions to the government to provide medical facilities to the poor Adivasis.

The complaint also stated that it was nothing but depriving the tribals of the right to life guaranteed under Article 21 and 14 of the Constitution. The advocate prayed the HRC to do justice to the poor Adivasis.
