Hyderabad: A comprehensive master plan would be prepared after integrating different plans, including that of the proposed 13 Transit Oriented Growth Centres (TOGCs) along the Outer Right Road.

Responding to a question raised by K P Vivekananda, Malipeddi Sudheer Reddy and Yeganamoni Anjaiah during the question hour in the State Assembly on Thursday, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Taraka Ramarao said that Hyderabad city had been growing fast, both geographically and population-wise.

Hence, it had been decided to develop 13 growth centres, which would ease pressure on the city. The centres were planned along the ORR at Patancheru, Tellapur/Nagulapalli, Kokapet, Timmapur/ Shamshabad, Tukkuguda, Adibatla, Bongulru, Pedda Amberpet, Ghatkesar, Keesara, Shameerpet, Medchal and Gundlapochampally.

The centres were proposed to be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 13,998 crore, for which the feasibility report had been completed. The Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) were being prepared.

The proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) had been approved by the Centre and would be taken up as a National Highway. With this, there would be connectivity between ORR and RRR, covering the proposed 13 TOGCs, he said.

KTR said that a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) would be established for taking up the project in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

The Minister allayed fears expressed by some MLAs that the proposed shifting of industries from different places in the city to the ORR area could pose problems to the proposed growth centres.

The Minister said that the government had decided to shift 1,160 out of 1,540 red and orange category industries from the city to the ORR area due to pollution problem.

Besides, steps had been taken to ensure zero liquid discharge from these industries at their new locations. The Minister assured members that Shadnagar would be developed as an urban development node.
