Hyderabad: Keeping in view the complaints that were received during the 2016 SSC examinations with regard to poor infrastructure in schools identified by District Educational Officers and Deputy Educational Officers, the Department of Education has asked the officials to start the work of identifying the buildings for 2017 examinations and ensure that they have necessary facilities.
The department instructed the officials to make sure that the buildings are in good condition and they have basic amenities like toilets, furniture etc.

Director of Government Examinations R Surender Reddy said in spite of strict instructions, old and dilapidated buildings were used as centres for SSC public examination in 2016. If this was repeated, all the concerned officers would be held responsible and action would be taken against them. He called upon the officials to strictly follow the comprehensive guidelines that have been issued by the department.

The director said it was not necessary that the existing centres only should be the examination centres. The officials should identify new buildings which have all basic amenities. All the DEOs, Deputy Eos and Mandal Education Officers should make a thorough inspection of the building and satisfy themselves that these buildings have all facilities like required number of rooms, sufficient furniture, electricity, water facility, toilets, etc.

Examination centres should be set up as far as possible in government managed schools like high schools, ZP high schools, residential schools, model schools, KGBV schools etc. Where no government schools are available, government junior colleges and private aided schools could be used. Schools with CCTV Camera facilities should be preferred.

If private schools need to be used, the same may be informed to the school correspondent concerned and they should be directed to hand over the school building and other infrastructure to the Chief Superintendent two days before the commencement of SSC public examinations.

All the Assistant Commissioners of Government Examinations, Mandal Educational Officers, Deputy Educational Officers and District Educational Officers should visit and assess the amenities before recommending them as examination centres, he added. Villages and towns where the centre would be established should be linked with bus or rail transport facility, should have post office, telephone facility, police station or sub-treasury. Each school should be able to accommodate a minimum of 120 candidates, the director said.
