Hyderabad: The family of software engineer Akteruddin, who died in Algeria on Saturday, suspect foul play and have sought the intervention of Ministry of External Affairs. The 30-year-old had been working for Samsung Engineering Timimoum Project in Algeria since January 3. Akteruddin was reportedly planning to come to India on Sunday.

But he was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the container house, which was allotted by the company. Though the ‘autopsy’ report on Tuesday claimed that the death was due to suicide, the family members suspect ‘foul play’.

Speaking to The Hans India, Akterudin’s brother Md Azheruddin said that the family belonged to Bhainsa and had received the news of his death on Saturday. However, they became apprehensive about the reasons behind his death, as they continuously heard ‘contradictory versions’ from the only source Sunil Jacob, his HR Manager.

They alleged that it appeared to be clear case of ‘murder’, as the deceased was performing well and there was no familial pressure.

“We have been pursuing the matter since Saturday. But the local authorities had declared that it was case of suicide. The autopsy report was forwarded on Tuesday. We strongly believe that this is a case of foul play,” Azheruddin said. According to the family, the deceased was about to leave Algeria to Kuwait, as he got a better offer.

Azherddin recalled that the family was awaiting his arrival on Sunday, as he wanted to spend some time with family before leaving for Kuwait. “We were about to fix his marriage, as he was doing well and was happy,” added his brother.

The family members asked the MBT leader, Amjedullah Khan to represent the matter to the Ministry of External Affairs. Khan wrote a letter to Minister Sushma Swaraj to intervene in the matter. “We hope that the Union Ministry would respond and take initiative,” said Amjedullah.
