A 2k run was organised here on Friday to commemorate the 126 birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the father of modern India. District Collector Bharat Hollieri along with other district officials took part in the caste-free India run from Dhyanchand crossroads to Ambedkar crossroads and later garlanded Dr Ambedkar’s statue.

Medak: A 2k run was organised here on Friday to commemorate the 126 birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the father of modern India. District Collector Bharat Hollieri along with other district officials took part in the caste-free India run from Dhyanchand crossroads to Ambedkar crossroads and later garlanded Dr Ambedkar’s statue.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said achieving a caste-free India could only be possible if everyone got educated. Events like this are necessary to empower people to get rid of the caste system in our country.In a separate programme, held at a function hall in Medak, Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy said it was the idea of Dr Ambedkar to have smaller districts, which was followed and implemented by the State government in Telangana.

While appreciating the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for unveiling a 126-feet tall statue of Dr Ambedkar in Hyderabad, she said the State government was committed to follow the principles laid down by Babasaheb.
