Jagityal: Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao on Monday denied any rift with Major Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and said he had no ambition to become Chief Minister immediately. He predicted that K Chandrashekar Rao would continue in the Chief Minister’s post for another 10 years.

In a chit chat with The Hans India on the sidelines of the Janahita meeting here, Rama Rao said the purpose of the meeting was to have a good rapport with the public. “In politics, 64 years of age is considered as young and hence there is no need for Chandrashekar Rao to quit the post,” he said.

Ruling out an alternative to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Minister said the Congress was wiped out not only in the State but also in the whole nation. “The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not confident of winning in Gujarat. That is why it took out a huge rally in that State on Sunday,” he pointed out.

With an eye on Telangana, the BJP had been striving for early elections, he said, and predicted that it would be impossible for the BJP to come to power in Telangana. On the other hand, he said, the TRS was ready to face elections even if they would be held tomorrow.

The TRS came to power after braving many hardships and overcoming hurdles and hence would not be cowed down by the opponent, whoever it was. “The instable conditions that normally prevail in new States are not characteristic of Telangana,” he said.

He dismissed reports that Harish Rao was crossing over to the Congress as false and maintained that he had good relations with the latter. The quota for BCs would be increased within six months, he added.Later, he took part in the Janahita meeting along with Minister Eatala Rajender, MP Kavita, MLA Gangula Kamalakar, MLA Putta Madhu and others.
