No amount of police harassment can stop us from questioning the government on its failure to fulfill the aspirations of the people, said TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram.
Fight against Anti-people policies
Hyderabad: No amount of police harassment can stop us from questioning the government on its failure to fulfill the aspirations of the people, said TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram.
Speaking at a Round Table conference on 'Telangana Struggle – People's Aspirations and the Current Situation', the TJAC chairman observed that the people of Telangana are disappointed that despite achieving a separate State after a long drawn struggle, their aspirations have not been fulfilled so far.
He said after all the alternative efforts, including suggestion and constructive criticism, failed to draw the attention of the government, the TJAC resolved to take up protests solely to see that people's aspirations get fulfilled.
“I never thought that the same TJAC which fought for Telangana along with TRS, would have to adopt a collision course over policies,” he said. He said the aspirations of the people is like the flame from a lantern and all those who want to fight for it should form into a shield like the lantern glass and fight for achieving the objective.
Kodandaram asserted that he would continue to question the government even if the police knocks on his doors for another ten times. “They cannot deter me from my goals,” he added.
CPI national secretary K Narayana said that he was ready to cut his ear, if KCR is able to fulfill at least 30 percent of the promises he had made by the end of his term. He said that KCR was scared of his wrongdoings, but was keeping a bold face.
Alleging that the Government was ridden with corruption, he felt that people would not want him to see in that position again. Referring to the dharna chowk, Naryana said that if the Government denies the democratic right of the people to protest, they would come on to streets and hold demonstrations.
If dharna chowk continues to be where it is now, then the protests would be confined only to one place. Emphasing the need for united fight by all opposition forces, K Dilip Kumar, former MLC and member All India ESIC Board (GOI) said that another movement is imminent to achieve the aspirations of the people. Referring to the recent dharna chowk incident, he cautioned the Chief Minister that the people would not tolerate any kind of oppression.
TPCC general secretary, Sravan Dasoju alleged that the recent meeting with police officials reflects the attempts by KCR to transform them into 'pink soldiers'.
He said KCR had set a dangerous trend by giving credit to top IPS officers for the success of TRS in GHMC elections. He said it appears that the government has turned itself into an event management company and the Ministers are available to people through twitter.
Former DGP, V Dinesh Reddy, BJP MLC N Ramachander Rao, Congress leader Addanki Dayakar, OU student leader Daruvu Yellanna and several others spoke at the round table conference.
