Hyderabad: The single women pension scheme, providing Rs 1,000 financial assistance per month to poor women, was launched across Telangana on Sunday.Pension sanction orders were handed over to beneficiaries by Telangana Deputy Chief Ministers Kadiyam Srihari and Mohd Mahmood Ali, other Ministers and by MLAs at various functions organised all over the State. In Hyderabad, Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav launched the scheme. Officials have identified 1,08,302 beneficiaries in 31 districts.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had earlier announced disbursement of pension of Rs 1,000 per month for single women, who have no support. The Minister said that the State government’s decision to provide Rs 1,000 pension would provide respite to single women. He said the government has been providing pension to aged people, widows, physically challenged, toddy tappers, weavers and beedi workers.
