Hyderabad: Two youths drowned in Kuntala waterfalls when they slipped and fell into the waters while clicking selfies near the waterfalls at Neradigonda on Saturday.
According to the local Sub-Inspector Venkanna, fishermen were pressed into services to trace the bodies, which were caught in a whirlpool. The deceased were identified as Ansar and Faizan, both aged about 21 years. While Ansar was a motorcycle mechanic, Faizan, who is pursuing his graduation, was a contract worker with an electricity agency.
They belonged to Argul village of Zakhranpalli mandal of Nizamabad district. They along with three other engineering students came to the waterfalls for a picnic.
A tourist Srikant said that there is no fence near the waterfalls in spite of repetition of such tragic incidents.In another incident, four children including three girls drowned in a water body in neighbouring Vikarabad district this afternoon, police said.
The incident occurred between 3 pm and 4 pm when the children all aged between 6 and 10 went to the water tank located in Burhanpur village under Bowranpet mandal of the district for a bath, a police official said. Unable to fathom the depth of the water all the children drowned in the tank, said the official. Their bodies were later fished out from the tank.
