Cairo: Hyderabad’s new star on the tennis horizon, Yadlapalli Pranjala, raised her stature by several notches while winning her maiden ITF singles title here on Monday.
Being in the form of her life, she scalped several title favourites before making it to the title clash. Pranjala, who trains with Sanjay Kumar at Sunjay Tennis Academy, came from a first set loss to thwart the dreams and aspirations of her Italian opponent Clerici Giada 6- 7(0), 7-5, 6-4 in the finals and pocket the title in the $15,000 Sharm El Sheikh ITF tennis tournament.
Sponsored by the GVK Foundation, the first year degree student at St Mary's College, and former top ranked Under-18 Indian girl, says that the win has come as a timely morale-booster.
