Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) N Uttam Kumar Reddy has ridiculed the claims that the completion of Pulichintala Hydel Power Station was accomplished due to foresight and vision of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He has asked KCR if even one unit of power has been produced from any of the power projects started by TRS government. The answer is "no," he said.
"TRS government or KCR did nothing for the Pulichintala hydel power project. It is in my constituency and I have a thorough knowledge of the project. It was conceived, approved and initiated during the regime of previous Congress government. KCR has the habit of taking credit for almost everything accomplished in the State and blaming the Congress for whatever was not accomplished in the State," Uttam Kumar Reddy said on Saturday.
He pointed out that 4x30 MW Pulichintala was given environmental clearance on June 9, 2005 and forest clearance on October 20, 2006. The final approval was given on April 25, 2007 and the date of letter of award (first package) was given on August 1, 2007. Significant portion of the work was completed before KCR became Chief Minister in June 2014.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said the BHEL had commissioned the first unit of 30 MW in December 2016 and now the second unit is ready. The other two units are scheduled for commissioning in August and October this year. The commissioning of Pulichintala to full capacity had in fact been delayed. KCR was giving an impression as if his government had completed the entire project in one year, he added.
