Contract health workers protest at Pragathi Bhavan
The contract health workers staged a protest at Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday demanding regularisation of services. The police arrested the workers who reached the Bhavan in the morning hours and raised slogans against the government.
Hyderabad: The contract health workers staged a protest at Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday demanding regularisation of services. The police arrested the workers who reached the Bhavan in the morning hours and raised slogans against the government.
During the protests, one of the worker attempted suicide by consuming kerosene. The police which swung into action took her and others into custody. During the chaos, ACP Punjagutta Venkatewarulu pushed aside a women reporter and threatened the cameraman of a regional TV channel.
Condemning the incident, the TUWJ-IJU and HUJ lodged a complaint with Director General of Police Anurag Sharma demanding a judicial inquiry into the incident and suspension of ACP Venkateshwarlu and his team. The DGP directed the City Police Commissioner to inquire into the incident.
