Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and former MP V. Hanumantha Rao on Sunday announced that he would launch a relay hunger strike on September 15 to protest against the negligent attitude of TRS Government of Nerella incident.

Speaking to media persons at Assembly Media Point here, VHR alleged that the State Government did not extend any assistance to the victims of alleged police torture in Nerella village of Rajanna Sircilla district. He said that the Congress party gave several representations seeking action the illegal movement of lorries of sand mafia in Sircilla and the accidents that they have been causing. However, he said no action has been taken against anyone.

VHR said although IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao himself interacted with the victims and gave several assurances, he did not take any measures. He said that the victims of police torture were not being provided required treatment and the injured persons were forced to leave the hospital at midnight.

He announced that the Congress party would organise relay hunger strike from September 5 across the Telangana State and 20 leaders in each district will take up in the hunger strike daily.
