GHMC junction plan goes for a toss
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation\'s junction improvement programme went for a toss. The civic body during last year has proposed to 30 different junctions across the city as a part of 100-day action plan.
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's junction improvement programme went for a toss. The civic body during last year has proposed to 30 different junctions across the city as a part of 100-day action plan.
A year has passed but the corporation till date has managed to finalise tenders for mere 8 junctions out of 22 junctions. According to a GHMC official, out of total 30 junctions, the civic body has decided to improve 16 junctions with about Rs 77 crore. However, the civic body later has decided to improve 10 junctions and finalised tenders for eight junctions since a year.
The corporation has decided to improve the City College junction with Rs 96 lakh, Himmatpura junction with Rs 144 lakh, Suchitra junction with Rs 199.8 lakh, Ashok Nagar junction with Rs 55 lakh, Paradise junction with Rs 185 lakh, IDPL junction with Rs 187 lakh, NFC junction with Rs 275 lakh, Cyber City-KhanametJunction with Rs 176 lakh and Hyderguda junction with Rs 134 lakh.
When broached the same subject, the GHMC official admitted the delay in the junction improvement programme. He said contractors had shied away from the junction improvement programme claiming that the work estimates are not viable. He said that even the ground level staff were not keen in taking up the project as it involves road widening and land acquisition.
Besides this, the official also said that the corporation would improve stretches including Kachiguda main road to New Golconda bridge, Ali Cafe junction to Nagole via Ahmed Nagar colony, Green Lands junction to Necklace road, Link road connecting to Madhapur, IALA road (behind Western Hotel), Botanical Garden road to Hafeezpet railway track, JV Hills, Kondapur X roads Raghavendra colony passing through HT line, Madhapur main road to Knowledge Park via Raheja IT park, TCS to ORR service road via Janachaitanya road (Nanakramguda), NHDC Financial District layout to Narsing (Nanakramguda service road ORR), Madhapur to Hi-tec city, Narsingi village to Hand of Hope church (Nanakramguda), Chandanagar main road to Sridevi theatre over nala, end of phase IX to IDPL society, Kukatpally main road to Anjaneya nagar and others. The corporation would acquire as many as 204 properties in this regard, he said.
