The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to build 826 bus shelters across the city with modern facilities like free Wi-Fi, Public toilets, any time water kiosks, FM Radio, comfortable seating, electronic streaming of bus timings and routes.
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to build 826 bus shelters across the city with modern facilities like free Wi-Fi, Public toilets, any time water kiosks, FM Radio, comfortable seating, electronic streaming of bus timings and routes.
The initiative, being implemented in coordination with Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), is being implemented as per the directions of Municipal Administration Minister. K. T. Ramarao.
In the Package I, a total of 110 new bus shelters will be constructed, along with demolition and reconstruction of new ones at 104 locations. In Package II, it will be 119 new shelters along with demolition and reconstruction of 100. In Package III, a total of 98 shelters will be erected anew, along with demolition of 96 and construction of new ones in their place. Package IV will entail construction of 103 new shelters and demolition and re-erection of 96.
The bus shelters with high quality amenities will be taken up under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode by engaging private developer on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis. The GHMC has decided to carry out the bidding process for selection of a private entity to whom the project would be awarded. The concessionaire will have to maintain bus shelters with high quality amenities. The maintenance include cleaning of the shelters including the toilets (segregated toilet blocks for men and women with separate entrance), if any, and maintaining clean and litter and garbage free, uninterrupted power supply to ensure proper lighting at the locations.
In this connection a pre-bid meeting with various Advertising Agencies was conducted wherein GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy and ASCI officials interacted with the representatives of various advertising agencies and explained about the project to be completed in a time bound manner.
Responding to the queries raised by the representatives of various agencies the Commissioner assured them that a detailed clarification will be provided to them.
Additional Commissioner (Advertisements) J. Shankaraiah and ASCI Professor Srinivasa Chary have also participated in the meeting.
