Gajwel: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao took officials to task for not adhering to quality standards in construction of Horticultural University and Forest Research University campuses in Mulugu and was unhappy about the delay in completion of its construction works.

He seriously warned the contractor that the contracting firm would be blacklisted if the construction works lacked quality. He asked the officials to get the works completed by the next academic year, when the State government would be starting the institutions.

During his day-long tour of Gajwel constituency on Friday, he also inspected the works at Sangapur in Gajwel-Pragnapur nagar panchayat, where the State government is building 2BHK houses for the poor in G+1 pattern.

Speaking to media persons at Gajwel, he said that 650 2BHK houses were already nearing completion and by Ugadi, all the houses would be completed and housewarming ceremony would be held in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao along with the beneficiaries. He added that though the construction works were being delayed a bit, quality would be assured.

He also paid a surprise visit to Gajwel Area Hospital, where he interacted with pregnant women at the hospital’s high-risk centre and enquired about the services they were receiving at the hospital.

He also inaugurated a mobile veterinary clinic at the hospital which would function under the Animal Husbandry Department to provide medical and health services to animals in the villages under Gajwel division.

Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, RDC Chairman Narsa Reddy, Housing Chairman Bhoomi Reddy and DCCB Chairman Chitti Devender Reddy accompanied him during his tour.
