To inculcate the habit of keeping fit among the people, the Minister said he would strive to make Siddipet a sports hub by organising State and national level competitions.
Elaborating on the efforts to improve sports infrastructure in Siddipet, Rao said floodlights would be installed at mini stadium in Siddipet at a cost of Rs 64 lakh to help the sports bodies organise national level competitions.

He said a swimming pool was built at cost of Rs 5 crore, which would be thrown open to people soon. As many as 280 sportspersons competed in the day-long championship while 100 supporting staff accompanied them. While Medak bagged the top spot, Nalgonda and Warangal districts came second and third respectively. The Minister also presented mementos to the winners.
