SHE Teams celebrate 3-yrs of fighting crime against women
The 3rd Anniversary of SHE Teams was celebrated with great pomp and show at Kala Bhavan here on Thursday.
Hyderabad: The 3rd Anniversary of SHE Teams was celebrated with great pomp and show at Kala Bhavan here on Thursday. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes) Swathi Lakra recalled how the SHE Teams stood strong like a pillar for women from all walks of life to walk freely in a safe and secure environment. She recalled the first case of SHE Teams, where it nabbeda stalker at a bus stop.
She said SHE Teams helped the victims to raise their voice against all forms of abuse at workplaces, houses and educational institutions. “For a Swarna Telangana, it is important for men also to play a crucial role in curbing the violence against women.” she said addressing teenagers at a gathering.
Ensuring a 100 per cent conviction rate, the SHE Teams have red-handedly arrested 1,464 persons and addressed 3,516 cases in the span of just three years resorting to the policy of zero tolerance towards the atrocities on women in the society. An e-learning course on SHE Teams and #SheTeams4Me Campaign have been launched on the auspicious occasion to shed light on the sensitive issues challenging the safety of women.
Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy appreciated the effort put in by the Hyderabad City Police in safeguarding women in our society and congratulated them. He said, “It is simply the presence of the SHE Team that brings fear to eve teasers, stalkers and other culprits today, who now think twice before talking to women in an abusive manner.
It is important to encourage the youth to take a stand for women safety as they shape the future of our country.”BhaleBhaleMagadivoy fame Lavanya Tripathi participated as a special guest in the event along several other eminent personalities like AvinashMahanti, IAS Officer, Kanaka Durga, Administrator of Bharosa Centre.
