Hyderabad: Buoyed by the overwhelming response to the World Telugu Conference fromTelugu community from across the world, Chief Minister KCR on Tuesday announced that a two-day Telangana Telugu Mahasabha will be organised every year in December.

Participating in the valedictory function of the five-day Telugu Conference at the main venue LB Stadium here for which President of India Ram Nath Kovind attended as the chief guest, KCR said his government was committed to preserving and promoting Telugu.

As part of it, his government will organise Telugu conference every year, the CM said he will take the responsibility of the revival of Telugu and promote it as ‘live language’. KCR said he will announce a comprehensive action plan for the promotion of Telugu in January first week.

The government was already flooded with suggestions and recommendations from all sections of people to strengthen Telugu. He will hold a meeting with literary personalities and Telugu academicians to finalise the action plan soon.

The government will strictly enforce the order issued by his government making it mandatory for every student to take Telugu as first language from first standard to Intermediate from next academic year, he said.

The problems being faced by Telugu pundits in attaining promotions and other benefits will be addressed after seeking legal opinion. Pension will also be provided to the retired pundits on par with other teaching staff, he promised.

Recalling that he attended World Telugu Conference at the same venue during his graduation in 1974, the Chief Minister said the conference helped to spread the importance of Telugu across the world.

The other dignitaries who were present on the dais included Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan, Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary and Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, MP K Keshava Rao and Sahitya Academy chairman Nandini Sidha Reddy.
