Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad has directed the Nalgonda Superintendent of Police to file a detailed counter affidavit within three weeks in the case of murder of Boddupalli Srinivas, husband of Nalgonda Municipal chairperson Boddupalli Lakshmi.
Justice A V Sesha Sai gave the direction on Wednesday, while hearing an urgent lunch motion petition moved by Bodupalli Lakshmi, seeking an investigation by either a Special Investigation Team or CBI into the murder of her husband.
Counsel for the petitioner C Damodar Reddy, in his arguments, informed the judge that the deceased was a Congress activist and pressure was exerted on him by Nakirekal MLA Veeresham to join the ruling TRS party. “In that context we have strong doubt about the role of the MLA in the murder,” he said. He charged that the police did not respond to the pleas of the deceased for providing security for the last two years.
He expressed doubt that the district police is acting at the behest of the ruling party leaders, especially MLA Veeresham. He faulted the SP for publicly stating that there was no political conspiracy behind the murder and he was murder was committed on the spur of the moment and asserted that the investigation was not progressing in the right way. He also pointed out that the conspiracy angle would come out if the police analysed the call data record of the arrested persons.
But in the remand report of the police, there was no mention of call data records. Special Government Pleader S Sharat Kumar submitted that the police had obtained the call data record but making it public at this juncture would hamper the investigation. He asserted that the police are conducting investigation in the right manner and a detailed counter affidavit would be filed. He sought three weeks and the judge granted it and adjourned the case by three weeks.
