Hyderabad: The Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS), at its first public meeting here on Sunday after it has been recognised as a political party, called the TRS government to account on its failures and felt that a ruler who cannot fulfil the aspirations of the people has no right to be in that position.
TJS president Prof M Kodandaram, in a fresh offensive against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that a leader who gets votes from the people should work for the people.
“The Chief Minister will not come to the Secretariat and if we try to go to Pragathi Bhavan we get arrested. Either he stays in the farm house or at Pragathi Bhavan. Neither he comes to office nor does he solve the problems of the people. A ruler should fulfil the aspirations of the people,” said Kodandaram.
Kodandaram exuded confidence that his party would come to power and when it does it would order inquiry into all irregularities committed by the TRS government. He also cautioned the officials against following their ruler blindly but act in accordance with the provisions of law. He said that the TJS would bring in a people-centric governance.
“If we are in Telangana today, it is because we all have fought for this. Everyone here had fought for Telangana. Actively participated in Rail Roko, Vanta Varpu and university students committed suicide,” said Kodandaram. Bearing scrutiny on the government, he lashed out at it for opening rowdy sheets against the youth who fought for Telangana. “How can be the people, who fought for Telangana be anti-social elements?” he questioned.
Kodandaram said that he had given one year’s time for the government but when it began doing the same which the Andhra rulers used to do, he started questioning. “The CM says Telangana is the fastest developing state in the country. But, wealth of the state is from only three districts and only few are getting the benefits. It is good that three districts are better but what about other districts and entire population of Telangana,” asked Kodandaram.
The TJS president alleged that the government was favouring the contractors in the construction of irrigation projects and Mission Bhagiratha. He said even the estimates for purchasing the motors are prepared by the contractors. “When the rulers eat away the available funds like worms how it can provide facilities to the people,” said Kodandaram.
Kodandaram said that he was ready for discussion wherever the rulers say on the administration by the TRS. He alleged that the government was deliberately decreasing the vacancies. Notifications are issued in such a way that the process gets stopped with litigations, he said.
Kodandaram said that the financial assistance of Rs 4,000 would not benefit the farmers. He said that there were many farmers who come under tenant farmers, Sada bainamas, and farmers do agriculture on government lands, who would not be getting the money.
He said that the farmers want increase in minimum support price for their produce. He alleged that the government was trying to shift the resources and the Nerella incident was the evidence.
Earlier, Kodandaram announced the party name and read out the targets of the party. He said that Telangana Jana Samithi would work for fulfilling the aspirations of the people. He said his party would provide free and quality education, health facilities like the Mohalla clinics of the Delhi government. He said that his party would seal the lands in and around Hyderabad and would provide housing to the people, he added.
Earlier, Kodandaram was elected TJS president. Leaders A Srinivas, DP Reddy and Prof Chandrashekar proposed the name of Kodandaram as party president and all the people on the ground approved the proposal. Kodandaram hoisted the party flag.
