VIPs, common public flex muscles marking International Yoga Day
Hundreds of VIPs and people from all walks of have flexed their muscles marking the International Yoga Day that was celebrated across the erstwhile Warangal district on Thursday.

At a programme at JNS Grounds in Hanamkonda, MLA D Vinay Bhaskar, District Collector Amrapali Kata, GWMC Commissioner VP Goutham and IRCS chairman Dr P Vijay Chander Reddy performed yogasanas along with students and other district officials.
Addressing the gathering, Vinay Bhaskar lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in bringing international recognition to yoga and stressed on the importance of yoga in the day to day life. By practicing yoga postures, one could be peaceful and healthy.
Ayush Regional Deputy Director Vijay Kumar said yoga sutras by Patanjali Maharshi during the 5th century BC leads one to love, the path of righteousness. Awareness on yoga must spread in rural areas also. Performing asanas every day, physical strength and the quality of life can be increased, he said.
At NIT Warangal, the institute along with 1 TCTR NCC Battalion organised mass yoga demonstration where students, NITW staff, NCC cadets, officials performed yoga asanas. NITW in-charge director Prof KV Jayakumar, professors LRG Reddy and M Chandrasekhar, registrar Govardhan Rao, Col Rajanish Singh, Lt Col Pankaj Devang spoke about the importance of yoga in daily life and asked participants not to make it as one day affair.
Similar programmes were held at LB College and Arts and Science College while Field Outreach Bureau of Field Publicity Office of Warangal and Karimnagar organised Yoga Day celebrations by at Urbane Junior College, Hanamkonda where the Field Publicity Officer Ardha Srinivas, College Vice-Principal Aparna, Field Publicity assistant Hari Singh, yoga Master P Srinivas and others were present.
