Siricilla: It is the responsibility of every person to protect the saplings that are planted under the prestigious programme ‘Telanganaku Haritha Haram’ for the sake of well-being of coming up generations suggested the District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar here in Rajanna Siricilla district on Friday.

The Collector accompanied with the Special Secretary of the Information Technology department of Arunachal Pradesh Prince Dhawan participated in the mass plantation programme in Peddur village of Siricilla mandal here on Friday.

Speaking on this occasion, the Collector D Krishna Bhaskar said that last year in the part of third phase of Haritha Haram programme about 85 lakhs of sapling are planted successfully across the district and this year the district administration is taking all necessary steps for implementing the fourth phase of Haritha Haram with the target of planting about 91 lakhs of saplings across the district.

The Collector ordered the officials of various departments to take care of planted saplings by giving it proper protection along with watering it regularly until it grows into a tree. “The interest we show in planting the sapling must be continued in protecting it also,” said the Collector.

Speaking on the occasion, Special Secretary of the IT department of Arunachal Pradesh, Prince Dhawan appreciated the efforts of State government for increasing the green cover of the State.

“Implementing such a massive programme and planting of crores of saplings along with taking steps for protecting the planted saplings is not an easy job. It is the collective efforts of all departments and is wonderful to see the perfect implementation of programme across the State,” he added. The District Rural and Development Officer Ravinder, Assistant Project Director Madan Mohan, and MPP Sri Latha were present.
