​Hyderabad: Finally, the unstinted efforts made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to bring new zonal system in Telangana has yielded positive results.
After three months of continuous persuasion with the centre, the Union government on Thursday issued gazette notification ratifying the creation of seven Zones and two Multi Zones for the convenient of providing more employment opportunities to the local people living in their respective zones in the State.
The new zonal system will facilitate 95 per cent reservation to the locals and five per cent reservation will be offered for open category in government jobs and also education. Within hours after President Ramnath Kovind gave his nod to new zonal system on Wednesday, the Union Home Ministry issued the gazette notification on Thursday morning.
After his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and apprised him the importance of the new zonal system in New Delhi last week, K Chandrashekar Rao has been pursuing the issue with Union Ministry every day.
He already deployed State special Advisor Rajiv Sharma to New Delhi two week ago to ensure the circulation of the pending file fast in the ministry and get the approval before August end.
Before coming into force, the Telangana region was having only two zones in the undivided Andhra Pradesh which existed for 43 years. The new Presidential order replaced the earlier presidential order issued in 1975 under Article 371 D of the Constitution for the erstwhile AP.
The first zone was called as Kaleshwaram zone - which includes the districts of Kumaram Bheem, Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli and Jayashankar Bhupalapally.
The total population of the zone was 28,29,615. Zone 2 or ‘Basara Zone’ includes the districts of Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad and Jagtial, with a population of 39,74,829 citizens, according to government data.
Zone 3, dubbed Rajanna Zone, includes 43,09,866 people in the districts of Karimnagar, Siddipet, Rajanna Siricilla, Kamareddy and Medak, while Zone 4 or Bhadradri Zone includes the districts of Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahbubabad, Warangal Urban and Warangal Rural, with a population of 50,44,844 citizens.
Zone 5 was the Yadadri zone includes Suryapet, Nalgonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Jangaon districts with a population of 40,23,800.
The most populated zone would be Zone 6 (Charminar), which includes Hyderabad, and the districts of Medchal-Malkajigiri, Rangareddy and Sangareddy, consisting of 1,03,57,289 people.
The last zone was the Jogulamba Zone, which includes the districts of Vikarabad, Mahbubnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, Wanaparthy and Nagarkurnool, with a population of 44,63,431.
The zones of Kaleswaram, Basara, Rajanna and Bhadradri come under Multi Zone One, while zones Yadadri, Charminar and Jogulamba come under Multi Zone Two.
