Folk arts played a pivotal role in sensitising the people, Speaker Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary said, speaking at a programme as part of Janapada Dinotsavam here on Thursday He said that its because of folk arts and through cultural activities since ancient times, we are able to protect our customs, traditions, culture and heritage
Bhupalpally: Folk arts played a pivotal role in sensitising the people, Speaker Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary said, speaking at a programme as part of Janapada Dinotsavam here on Thursday. He said that it’s because of folk arts and through cultural activities since ancient times, we are able to protect our customs, traditions, culture and heritage.
“More importantly, folk art forms played a major role in Telangana Movement. It kept the separate Statehood momentum going on until we achieved Telangana,” the Speaker said. As part of celebration, artistes performed Kolatam, Chindu Yaksha Ganam, Chirutala Ramayanam and Burra Katha etc. Earlier, RDO Veerabrahma Chary and DPRO B Ravi Kumar flagged off the artistes’ rally at Prof Jayashankar statue.
