Jeedimetla: The country will progress fast if farmers of all states convert horticultural crops, which yield more quality items, as exchange crops, observed Assam Horticulture Additional Chief Secretary VS Bhaskar here on Wednesday.

Speaking after inspecting the Centre of Excellence in Quthbullapur, along with Telangana Horticulture Commissioner Venkatram Reddy, Bhaskar expressed happiness over the training programmes being conducted for the benefit of horticulture farmers for introducing profitable products. He recalled the experience for three hours of watching demonstrations in the centre to know interesting aspects and seeing production of vegetables, fruits and decoration flowers in its poly house, along with horticultural officers.

Bhaskar stated that he would introduce the Telangana crops to farmers in Assam. He expressed confidence that if Telangana farmers were taken to Assam and the process of obtaining higher yield is exchanged by riots the departments in two states and elsewhere in the country can be strengthened.

The visitor praised Reddy for devoting special attention to the department and making valuable suggestions to farmers, besides overseeing their activities. Reddy stated that Telangana Horticulture Department would emerge as a model in the country. He noted with happiness Bhaskar’s observation that he would launch similar centres of excellence in Assam.
