Serlingampally: Left party workers staged protest as part of Bharat Bhandh, a nationwide call for protest by opposition parties against petrol and diesel price hike, here on Tuesday. An effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was burnt as a protest at Chandanagar Gandhi statue.

Speaking on the occasion, the left leaders Shoban, Anil and Srisailam Goud said that the fuel prices have been increasing rapidly ever since Narendra Mody’s government came to power. The prices are increasing despite fall in crude prices internationally, they alleged. They opined that the price rise will have tremendous impact on essential commodity prices. Police arrested the protesters and released them later. Left leaders Krishna, Tukaram, Anil, Danaiah, Srinivas, Ramarao and others participated in the protest.
