Hyderabad: Former Congress leader Danam Nagender who has joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) likely to face his old friend M Mukesh Goud in the coming elections as the ruling party was contemplating to field him from Goshamahal Assembly constituency.

According to sources, the TRS has decided to field Danam Nagender from Goshamahal Assembly constituency against the sitting BJP MLA T Raja Singh. Sources said that Danam Nagender had a meeting with IT Minister K T Rama Rao at his camp office on Monday evening and during this meeting it was decided to field Nagender from Goshamahal. The sitting MLA Raja Singh had defeated Mukesh Goud from this seat during 2014 elections. Mukesh Goud likely to get ticket from Congress party again.

Danam Nagender had his eyes on the Khairatabad Assembly constituency. He had lost to BJP’s Ch Ramachandra Reddy during the last elections. However, the TRS leadership could not accommodate Nagender from Khairatabad since corporators Vijaya Reddy, the daughter of former Minister P Janardhan Reddy was aspiring ticket from here.

The party already has M Goverdhan Reddy as in-charge from this constituency and was expecting ticket. Earlier in the day, social media was abuzz with Nagender meeting Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy and was looking to rejoin Congress party. However, Nagender condemned the rumours and said that he would work for victory of TRS even if he does not get ticket.

Speaking to the media at his residence Nagender alleged the Congress party leaders were spreading rumours of him leaving the party. Nagender said he had joined TRS without any condition and he would ensure victory of the party even if he don't get a ticket. He said that K Chandrashekar Rao would become Chief Minister again after elections.
