Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar clarified the current enforced part of Model Code does not envisage power to ask police to book criminal cases against anyone.

Speaking to newsmen here, he said that Part 7 of Model Code was implemented in Telangana since Thursday, which deals with guidelines for the party in power like restrictions on usage of government vehicle, launching of schemes, etc. We are taking action accordingly.

As far as question of violation of Model Code is concerned, the Election Commission usually asks district election officer to file report and the same would be sent to ECI, which finally decides what action should be taken, he said, adding that a few videos have come to his notice with formal complaint and he had asked district election officer to enquire and send a report.
