Mahbubnagar: Giving a call to promote the handicrafts, Municipal chairman Radha Amar, inaugurated the handicrafts mela at Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam Kalayanamandapam in Mahbubnagar on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, the Municipal chairman said, “promoting handicrafts has very great cultural importance. Handicrafts industry which is fast becoming extinct, it is time we realise its cultural and social importance and need to promote it.”
“This industry provides employment and brings out innovative skills among the craftsmen who come out with artistic designs and sculptures which reflect their skills and hard work. I would like to urge the people to come and buy different handicrafts and promote this traditional culture which is giving lively hood to millions,” said Radha Amar.
The municipal chairman congratulated the organizers for organising this exhibition during the festival season of Dasara and Deepavali as it will definitely boost the sales during this season.
While speaking on the occasion Chiranjeevi, the organizers of the exhibition mela said they are offering 20 per cent discount on handloom clothes and 10 per cent discount on handicrafts. The handicraft mela will continue till October 14.
