Hyderabad: The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) and the British Council of India are to hold a twinning programme, a workshop on Higher Education Leadership and Strategic Approaches to Transforming Teaching and Learning."

According to TSCHE Chairman Prof T Papi Reddy, universities and colleges around the world have undergone profound transformations in the recent past. New changes to institutions and the nature of academic work are brought in. The higher education enterprise is now too large, and complex to be managed.

As higher education is expanding largely, there is a growing need for professional management and leadership. The resources have declined significantly and in the fiscal crisis, it has become difficult for the universities to realise the goals of productivity and efficiency.

And, it is no exaggeration to saying that it is an academic revolution. A series of transformations have influenced most aspects of teaching and learning. There is a sweeping impact of information and communications technology on higher education. The rapid communication of knowledge has resulted in the expansion of distance education, and electronic publication of journals and books. Teaching and learning have transformed within universities and through distance education and MOOCs.

It was against this backdrop that emphasising and introducing right kind of leadership in higher education and teaching and learning approaches, Prof T Papi Reddy, Prof R Limbadri, Prof V Venkata Ramana, Vice Chairmen, TSCHE said that TSCHE has decided to conduct an interactive workshop on ‘Higher Education Leadership and Strategic Approaches to Transforming Teaching and Learning’ with the partnership of British Council of India.

As part of the workshop, Jo Chaffer, an Associate Advance HE, and Global Consultant will hold an interactive workshop on ‘Growing Leadership in Higher Education’ and Becky Smith, Assistant Director, International Advance HE, will hold an interactive workshop on Strategic Approaches to Transforming Teaching and Learning.

Prof Papi Reddy added that both the workshops would help the educationists to open new avenues for opportunities for local education and wider global connections. The participants are Council Members of TSCHE, the Vice-Chancellors, Registrars of Telangana State Universities and some Principals of Degree Colleges and some Professors are invited for the workshop.
