Peddapalli: The Election Commission has issued strict orders to the district administration to implement the Model Code of Conduct. District Collector Devasena here on Thursday advised all the political parties to follow the Model Code of Conduct. The Collector held a meeting with the representatives of the various political parties to explain to them about the Model Code of Conduct.

Speaking at the meeting, the Collector Devasena sought the cooperation of all the political parties in implementing the Model Code of Conduct and ensure free and fair elections. The political parties should take prior permission from the Revenue and police for holding meetings or taking out processions, she said.

She said the campaign material should not contain any religious and caste content which may hurt the feelings of the people. The Collector also informed the the political parties that the campaign should be conducted between 10.30 am and 6 pm. Burning of effigies of political opponents were strictly prohibited, she said. Prior permission should be taken for giving advertisements in newspapers and various television channels from Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MC&MC).

Candidates should submit the details of expenditure on the various methods of campaigning from time to time to Expenditure Officer. The District Joint Collector Vanaja Devi, in-charge District Revenue Officer K Narasimha Murthy and the representatives of the various political parties were present.
