Musheerabad: A round-table conference was held to discuss the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme (MGNREGS) here at Sundaraiah Vignan Kendram on Tuesday.
Speaking at the conference, Shankar, state secretary for Dalit Bahujan Front, said that all political parties in India should assure people that they continue to implement the scheme without adding any charges.
Speakers expressed concerns over tampering of the scheme, which was the result of a long struggle by agricultural labour.
They said that though there were many reasons for the current agrarian crisis, governments might use this as an excuse to merge the rural employment scheme with agriculture.
