Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is chalking out plans to organise a big public meeting of Rahul Gandhi in Nalgonda by the end of this month. It is intended to demonstrate its strength and the party’s ability to connect with people. A decision to organise a public meeting will be taken soon, according to party sources.
With the success of public meetings, addressed by Rahul Gandhi, at Kamareddy and Bhainsa in Adilabad district on Saturday, the Telangana Congress leaders are expressing happiness. They are hoping that the party’s prospects of better electoral performance is certain.
The party leaders are planning a huge public meeting in Nalgonda with the participation of Rahul Gandhi and by mobilising lakh of people to demonstrate its popularity among the people.
The party leaders congratulated each other on Saturday evening following the success of the meetings addressed by Rahul Gandhi in Kamareddy, Bhainsa and Charminar after the latter left for Delhi. Rahul visited the State for first time to kick-start the campaign after the announcement of schedule for the elections.
According to party leaders, Rahul expressed happiness over the success of the public meetings and also the huge response he received from the people. He said, “The situation is favourable for us and all the leaders should work unitedly.”
TPCC Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy, who was among the leaders to give send-off to Rahul at Begumpet Airport, told The Hans India that the AICC President appreciated the collective efforts of the leaders. Narayana Reddy said the Kamareddy meeting witnessed huge crowds and other two public meetings were also successful. He said the meetings had boosted the morale of the party leaders.
He said that the party has been planning some more public meetings of Rahul and Sonia. He said the success of the meetings has doubled their confidence levels. He exuded confidence that the alliance would win about 95 seats.
The Congress has planned two public meetings of Rahul at Warangal and Karimnagar on October 27. However, with the success of public meetings at Bhainsa and Kama Reddy, they have decided to give a big push to the campaign with a huge public meeting in Nalgonda.
If the TPCC accepts the proposal of big public meeting in Nalgonda, it might postpone the public meetings in Warangal and Karimnagar. So far, the public meetings being planned for Rahul are relatively small. However, the Congress which has sensed strong opposition to the government among the people now wants to show it in a big way and to make a huge impact on the opinion of the people with Nalgonda meeting.
