Karimnagar: District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed inaugurated the Cradle Reception Centre at the Mother and Child Health Care Centre here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the parents, who wanted to abandon their children, can leave their babies in the cradle at the Cradle Reception Centre.
If they discarded their babies in open places, the child may become prey for street dogs and pigs and may die. Abandoning a baby on streets was an inhuman act. For preventing such incidents, Cradle Reception Centre was opened at Mother and Child Health Care Centre, said the Collector.
The infants, which are left in the cradle, will be looked after carefully and will be well nourished by Medical and Health Department, he said. Dr Ajay Kumar, Hospital Superintendent, Durdhana Parveen, District Child Protection Officer, R M Mother and Child Health Care Centre in-charge, Child Care Unit Manager Srinivas, Social workers, ICPS staff members were present.
